Short-term volunteers: Check out our Kokua Crew or Mission Builders for six weeks, or a three months term.
Full-time volunteer staff: Inquire about existing opportunities or pioneer new ones, and after completing your journey with a DTS, join us by filling out our staff application. Our leadership track is recommended for most staff prospects who just completed a DTS.

Please do not forget to hit ‘submit’ when you are finished, so that we can start reviewing your application. If you have paper forms to send, it is preferred they are scanned and emailed. You also must have two completed references before your application is processed.
TB Test
The State of Hawaii requires everyone to be tested for tuberculosis (TB) and to submit evidence of a negative test. Testing must be dated within one year of your arrival.
Visas
If you are a non-U.S. resident, please be sure to speak with our Visa Desk – visas@uofnkona.edu. They can assist you with any visa documentation, and/or arrival letters for entering the United States.
Health Insurance
All staff must have health insurance valid in the state of Hawaii for the full duration of their service at University of the Nations, Kona. Proof of health insurance is required to be shown at check-in with Staff Services. U of N Kona does not provide or recommend insurance for anyone on campus – students, staff, Kokua Crew or mission builders – and cannot be held responsible for any of their medical costs.

❏ Pay $5 activation fee (quarterly) and $10 for a staff ID (one-time unless you need a card replacement) – credit/debit card only
❏ You can load money on your staff ID card after completing the check-in process at Gateway. (Staff lunches are complementary from Monday to Friday. All other meals cost $2/plate)
Staff housing is based on availability. After you are accepted, you can send campus-housing request, which is in your acceptance email.
Housing Fees:
• $400/month, $15/night 18 yrs+
• $300/month, $11/night 13-17 yrs
• $200/month, $8/night 8-12 yrs
• $100/month, $4/night 3-7 yr
• Family housing maximum of $1700 a month
