Hurricane Lala caused major damage across Kaʻū and other parts of our island. YWAM Kona is operating a volunteer distribution center, coordinating local outreach teams with partner churches, and collecting financial gifts to buy supplies and gift cards for affected families. Drop-off location for Hurricane Lala relief supplies
We have set up a distribution center on our YWAM UofN Kona Campus. Our distribution center is accepting relief donations to help families and communities affected by Hurricane Lala. All donations received will be sorted into relief kits and delivered with our local outreach teams for distribution alongside partner churches and ministries, which currently include: Hilo Missions Church, Nāʻālehu Church, Teen Challenge.
We welcome commonly requested items such as bottled water, cleaning and sanitation supplies, diapers and baby care, personal hygiene items, work gloves, trash bags, empty gas containers, and coolers. For a current, detailed list of needs that is updated frequently, please consult the link below.

Financial gifts help where they are needed most
Monetary donations allow us to quickly purchase hard goods and gift cards from major box stores for families who need them. Financial support helps fill urgent needs and supports local partners doing critical recovery work.
Our response
We are mobilizing teams to serve alongside partner ministries in affected communities. Our teams are focused on distributing kits, assisting households with cleanup and basic repairs, and supporting local shelters. Our ministry partners include Hilo Missions Church, Nāʻālehu Church, Teen Challenge, and other local partners receiving our teams.
