Modular By Design
University of the Nations’ innovative “live-learn” educational model stands out among centers of higher learning. Our founders were from radically different backgrounds: Loren Cunningham is a missions statesman who has ministered in every nation on earth while pioneering the international missionary movement, YWAM (Youth With a Mission) while the late Howard Malmstadt was an esteemed professor/writer, and a brilliant scientist who invented the microprocessor. They developed a modular learning system where students focus on one subject at a time with outreaches and internships that give them degrees rich in hands on experience. In this system, itinerant teachers with real-world knowledge come each week for training that favors personal application and deep revelation.
International By Design
When you come to Kona, Hawaii you will see immediately why we are called University of the Nations. Every quarter, students come from, and are sent to 30 to 50 nations. Our degree programs are particularly diverse with a majority of degree students coming in from other nations.
As a degree student in Kona, you will be joining a community who loves Jesus and wants to share his love and truth with the world. Regardless of your course of study, expect your experience to be infused with prayer, worship, the Bible, and daily challenges to live radical lives of faith. Teams share the Good News of Jesus on the streets of Hawaii Island, and on outreaches in some of the most far-flung places on earth.
Transformational By Design
At the University of the Nations we believe there is something unique in learning that leads to change. Most of our classes have a lecture phase and outreach phase. The learning starts in the classroom, but continues in the field. This live-learn model of education leads to great transformation for students as well as the communities we serve.
