Security Staff

Full time, minimum 1 year commitment

The campus security mission statement “to provide a safe place to live, work, and be trained to fulfill the great commission.”

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Gate screening
  • Day and night patrols
  • Assisting with student dismissals as needed and requested by school leaders
  • Room searches as needed for drugs, drug paraphernalia, and / or alcohol
  • Investigating theft complaints
  • Investigating complaints of vandalism in the dorm rooms or other locations on the campus property

Requirements

  • Must have completed a DTS 
  • Must have a good communication skills with other security team members, Campus Leadership, emergency services and law-enforcement
  • Must be able to control own emotions and temperaments when dealing with disrespectful individuals both on and off the campus
  • Must be able to write reports in English

Benefits and training required:

  • Campus housing – up to one year – Housing fees and Staff Services are still required
  • First aid, AED, CPR certification
  • State of Hawaii Guard Card certification (this is a two-year certification and there will be fees that you would need to pay to complete this certification – this is optional).

Staff Services 

Responsibilities: Staff Services works to cover staff from both an administrative and spiritual standpoint. Our goal is to help all new staff transition well into their service in Kona and then work to cover and serve staff throughout the rest of their time.

Mailroom

Full time, available to those who reside on the island long-term.

This is a paid, contracted position.

Minimum 2-year commitment

Responsibilities: Assist Manager with the daily functions of the mailroom & all customer services including: Cashiering, mail sorting, photo copying, faxing, laminating, binding, key cutting, emailing, & other duties as assigned.

Requirements: MUST have excellent customer service, proficient computer skills & be fluent in English (verbal & written). It is necessary to be detail oriented & able to communicate clearly in a friendly & helpful manner. Knowledge in excel & word. Any design-based programs are a bonus. Also be physically able to withstand long periods of time on your feet & lift over 50 lbs.

Maintenance

Full time, minimum 1 year commitment
The department is responsible for the upkeep, repair, preservation, conservation, and protection of the structures, facilities, and equipment of the UofN campus. This includes but is not limited to, the two hundred dorm rooms, multiple classrooms, and thirty-three buildings on campus, along with the tents, systems, and facilities on Campus. The work ranges over a full spectrum such as plumbing, electrical woodworking, and general maintenance. Routine service items include interior and exterior lights, windows, doors, wiring, drains, toilets, floors, fans, water filters, cartridges, smoke detectors, and other items that wear out on a regular basis.

Operations

Kitchen Chef/Manager

Full time, minimum 2 year commitment

This position requires the ability to organize kitchen staff to prepare and execute three meals a day for 400-1400 people. 

Requirements:

 

  • A knowledge of professional kitchen equipment, food safety training and menu planning is a must. 
  • Candidate must know how to order food products from distributors. 
  • A kind and gentle nature is required due to the quarterly turnover of kitchen help, which requires training a new group of people four times a year.  
  • Candidate must be able to handle stress, be flexible, and carry our values.
